At 1029 Banff Ave, the Rocky Mountain Resort sits at the far north end of the strip closer to the Trans-Canada interchange than the town centre. The trade-off for that location is space. The condo-style units come with full kitchens, dining areas, and living rooms that make a two or three-night stay feel like an actual residence rather than a hotel room.
For groups of four or more, the per-person cost compares favourably with anything closer to downtown. The resort runs an indoor pool and hot tub and there is enough outdoor space to feel removed from the commercial density of the Ave. In summer the walk into town takes about 20 minutes on foot. In winter you want a car.
The Alpha Bistro on the property handles breakfast and lunch competently. If you are coming to Banff with six people and care more about kitchen space than boutique hotel amenities, the Rocky Mountain Resort is difficult to argue against.
