Elk + Avenue replaced the old King Edward Hotel on Banff Ave and the Banff Jasper Collection did not try to replicate what was there before. The result is a clean contemporary hotel on one of the best addresses in town. The corner of Banff Ave and Caribou Street puts you within walking distance of everything worth walking to, which in Banff means most things.
Brazen on the ground floor is one of the better hotel restaurants in Banff with a cocktail program worth stopping in for even if you are not staying. The bar sees a mix of guests and locals in the evening which makes it feel less like a hotel lounge and more like an actual bar. Farm and Fire is the more ambitious dining option if Brazen is full.
The trade-off is that this is a commercial hotel on a commercial street. What Elk + Avenue offers is competent consistent luxury hotel execution in the centre of everything. For business travellers, groups, or anyone who values location above atmosphere, it makes a compelling case.
