The Rose and Crown on Banff Ave has been the go-to upstairs pub in Banff for longer than most of the seasonal workers on the Ave have been alive. The rooftop patio is the main draw in summer. The positioning above street level gives you a view down Banff Ave toward Cascade Mountain that the ground-floor establishments cannot offer.

The beer selection runs long with the local options alongside the standard Canadian taps. The food is pub standard done without pretension. The fish and chips hold up. The burger is reliable. The rooftop fills fast on warm evenings.

The Rose and Crown works as an après stop, an evening out, or a late-night option when the kitchen elsewhere has closed. It is not trying to be a destination restaurant and does not need to be.
