Three Bears opened on Bear Street in 2019 and quickly became the anchor of the local beer scene in a town that was not previously known for having one. The brewing program runs year-round with a rotating selection of lagers, pale ales, IPAs, and seasonal releases all made on-site. The seasonal taps are worth asking about because they tend to be more interesting than the year-round lineup.
The kitchen takes the food seriously, which puts it well ahead of most brewery restaurants in Alberta. The elk burger has earned its reputation and the smoked brisket flatbread is consistently good. The room is warm and the energy on a busy weekend evening is what a good neighbourhood restaurant should feel like.
The patio on warm afternoons fills within an hour of opening so arrive before 3pm or expect to wait. For dinner on a Friday or Saturday, reservations are the right move. It is not optional in July. Three Bears works as a bar stop, a full dinner, or a mid-afternoon pint after a hike.
