The ride takes about an hour from the Lake Louise Summer Gondola base. You'll sit on a full-size coach with other visitors, which means you're not getting a solo experience but you're also not hunting for parking at one of Banff's most crowded destinations. Once you arrive, you get roughly two to three hours at the lake before the return shuttle. Bring a light jacket even in summer. The turnaround is quick, so plan your timeline carefully.

Go in late September or early October when crowds thin out but the weather holds. You'll wait longer if you show up without a reservation during July or early August.
